Floating Words

Poetry from the core of me.

Tattoo

I’ll tattoo you on my heart

After I open up my chest

Exposing all the parts of me

The parts I’ll give to you

I’ll splinter ribs

To get the needles

To inject the ink

Which I will make

Out of my liver

I’ll crush it to a paste

Mix it with the marrow

I’ll take from my sternum

Inject your name on the chambers

Of my slowly beating heart

The melody that is your laugh

Will go on my lungs

Your face is already seared

Into my retinas

There’s no need to replicate it

Dip your fingers in my blood

Press them to my bones

And I’ll tattoo the fingerprints

To keep your touch inside

If it is the only way

That I can have you here

Bring on the disembowelment

My sacrifice to you
