Floating Words

Poetry from the core of me.

As Good as Dead

Leave me here

I’m as good as dead

My intestines spilling out

To join my broken heart

The ribs that splintered

As that beating muscle blew

Are scattered across the room

A frozen tongue sits in my mouth

I doubt it will work again

The eardrums ruptured

When you pierced them

With those words of leaving

Just leave me on the floor

I’ll bleed out slowly

The emotions mingling

With the plasma of my cells

Don’t mistake this liquid flowing

From my reddened eyes

For simple salty tears

It’s my life force

Shed in a guise of weeping

Flowing down my twisted face

To fall to the ground

The ground where you

Must leave me

Here

I’m as good as dead
