Floating Words

Poetry from the core of me.

Failed Escape

I took the road less traveled

And wandered for a while

Thinking I could leave you

Just disappear from sight

I tried

Back at the fork

When your ghost looked the other way

I ran until I had to stop

Catching my ragged breath

Only to realize

It was useless to try

Your face just seemed to follow me

Your voice echoed through the trees

And I still felt your hand in mine

No matter what move I made

Every second that I could

I took the road less traveled

Because you never did

Little did I guess that you

Had crept inside of me

You live throughout my body

A parasitic poltergeist

Messing with my heart and mind

Unwilling to be left behind
