I am tired of hearing advice

About dating and the fails

That goes something like

“Just tell yourself

It’s not about you”

Good advice in theory

Great for most people to follow

When they ghost

It’s not about you

When they don’t follow up

It’s not about you

When they never respond

It’s not about you

That’s the problem

I want it to be about me

I want something to be about me

I want anything to be about me

I’ve made everything about others

Time and time again

Without feeling a reciprocation

That I could accept

Always felt

That the everything I gave

Was still not enough

Because I never allowed myself

To think that I was enough

I want it to be about me

I don’t think it’s too much to ask

Have I not earned that

Don’t I deserve that

For all the parts of me I’ve given out

Can’t I get something of somebody

In return
