Omnipresent
It’s been twenty eight days
Since I wrote a single word
I was lost within the caverns
In the depths of my own mind
Looking for you
Scraping up every shred
Of every memory
I could find
Clutching them to me
So I would not forget
More than I already had
The problem came
When they slipped through my fingers
Like sand crystals falling
To the cavern floor
Absorbed into the reaches
The cracks and fissures twisting
Between my neurons
Falling down into my brain stem
Stuck there
Next to the life functions
The basic body programs
Embedding thoughts of you
In every single thing I do
Now that the time has passed
I have returned to the page
But everything is about you
Every line in every poem
Every letter in my name
You leak out of every pen
Just like every breath
My lungs now take
You are stuck everywhere
The unremembered memories
The ghosts of happy moments
Lurk within my body
Haunting my blood vessels
Flavoring my tongue
With the sense of you
Every movement
Every moment
Every thought and beat of heart
Bring me back to you
