Reasons
If I held all the reasons
Not to love you in my palm
They would form a pile like sand
Easily slipping through my fingers
To be ignored on the floor
I could place them into water
Pull them out again
Moisten them to mold them
Into shapes of why to stay
Contort the cons into pros
With justifications of the heart
Manufactures of the mind
I could combine those
With the real reasons
To love you and to stay
Weld them into a hybrid beast
A chimera running wild
Intended to protect my heart
But it would only tear me down
In a rampage supervised by me
And all the reasons I should leave
