Floating Words

Poetry from the core of me.

Wreckage

The sound of rain punctuated

The looks you threw at me

Emphasized the words

That danced across your tongue

Before swan diving off your lips

Taking flight into the dusty air

That drifted in between us

Untouched by the moisture

As we sheltered from the storm

The one outside

Created by the sky

While the one between us brewed

Made of our decisions

The actions crafting clouds

Leading to this moment

When all the pressure builds

You threw the lightning

I unleashed a torrent

Our rising shouts became

The wind that ravaged us

The storm tore the two of us

Off the foundation that we built

Scattered everything we made

Across a wrecking field

So we could wander through the rubble

As the tempest calmed

Pick through all the memories

To take our separate ways
