Dear Congress
Dear Congress,
You are killing us. Every day that you refuse to put aside your differences and enter into a discussion about the violence that keeps happening in our country you are killing us. There is blood on every vote that goes against regulations that help to stop these horrendous killings.
Every time you point a finger of blame at a particular group to try to shift the blame off of yourselves, you are killing us.
Every time you ignore the facts and statistics about the gun violence in this country you are killing us.
Every time you perpetuate the myth that any sort of gun regulation is a complete dismantling of the second amendment, you are killing us.
Every time you offer your prayers and sympathies for places like Newtown, Las Vegas, Orlando, Buffalo, and Uvalde, but do nothing with the position that we have trusted you with, you are killing us. Every time you ignore a chance to take an action and make a change, you are killing us.
Every time you say that "guns don't kill people, people kill people," you are missing the point. And by missing that point you are killing us.
Every time you divide us along lines of race or religion, you are killing us. Whenever you talk about an "us" and a "them" you are killing us.
We are tired of your talk. We are tired of your inaction. We are tired of you drawing your party lines and not considering the moral ones. We are tired of your selfish fighting. We are aware that there is no easy solution. We know and we are tired of you throwing that non-excuse in our faces. You shouldn't have taken this job if you didn't want to face problems that have no easy solution. We are tired of your song and dance.
We are tired of you killing us.
