Floating Words

Poetry from the core of me.

Breaking You

The red mist of the sunset

Turned your tears a coral pink

As my words waded through them

I heard your heart break

Never thought that it would happen

That I could be the cause

The past had always shown

I was the one to lose

To be left behind

The breaking heart was mine

Every time I fell before

The jagged pieces piling up

With each and every leaving

All of them stinging me

Cutting through my soul

Causing pain that I slowly

Learned to just absorb

But this time is different

It’s a darker, deeper pain

Reverberating from the sound

Of your own heart shattering

I never thought that breaking

Someone else would break me

In a new painful way
