The Good Part
Can you somehow see
The good part of me
I’ve lost it in the rest
Dropped it as I stumbled
Through the darkness
Crafted by my broken mind
Turning on itself
Digging deep into my spinal cord
To slow my body down
Filling my whole being
With loathsome hateful thoughts
Can you help me find
That good part I misplaced
If it still exists at all
I don’t remember what it looks like
Only vaguely recollect
How it used to feel
Like a scent recognized
From an unremembered source
Or a melody that can be hummed
Without a name recalled
If you could help me
Find a way to find it
Maybe I could be
Something better
Someone stronger
A better choice
For you to make
A better fit
A more equal love
Worthy in both our eyes
To stand by your side
