Floating Words

I wonder what you wonder

When we wander out alone

Just the two of us…

I’m having trouble

With distribution

Of our past into…

I will swallow my pride

Pass it by my Adam’s apple

Past the lungs that want to scream…

Comparisons are easily done

When you’re stuck in between

The past you knew…

At a yoga class the teacher said

“Only you know how your body feels”

And I screamed in my mind

I can’t lie to you

Even if I wanted to

It contradicts the way I love you…

I think that I’m disintegrating

Crumbling into ashes

Can’t seem to find a reason…

Enjoy the new life

You will lead

Without me…

The past sat down beside me

To tell me a few things

Reminding me of what it knew…

I weep for those we’ve lost

In senseless hatred

My heart breaks for those who mourn…

Do you enjoy the moments

The ones that slip between

The cracks and dents

Can you see through

My glass cage heart

The one I drained for you…

People ask me what I’m looking for, and I’ll say “I don’t know.”
